So, you have built up a diet and exercise routine that you have been diligently following for a while now, and are beginning to see the results that you have been waiting for, but, you are scheduled to go on vacation. That means that you will be far away from the park you run in, the gym you loiter in, and the kitchen that you depend on. However, that does not mean that you have to forfeit the healthy lifestyle that you have been working so hard to maintain! You want to be able to enjoy your vacation guiltlessly and come back to reality without any regrets. So here are a few tips to help you do just that!

1. Incorporate physical activity into every day of your travels, in as many instances as you can. Take the stairs instead of elevators, wherever possible. Avoid shortcuts. Opt for longer trails to get places. Walk to nearby attractions instead of hailing cabs. Doing so will also help you save money and see things you would have missed, by choosing mass transit.

2. Invest in portable fitness gear. A pair of running shoes, a couple of toning chords, and your favorite workout DVD are all light and portable, so bring these things with you wherever you go, and make a commitment to make use of them during your travels.

3. Create a gym with what you have. While you may not have the tools you are accustomed to, realize that you can carry out a fitness routine wherever you are, just by being creative. Most likely you have been working out long enough to have memorized specific fitness moves that are highly effective. You know that dips can strengthen triceps. You know that lunges can work your thighs and butt. So bring these moves with you when you travel and schedule a time, each day, to practice them in the space that you have. Furthermore, be creative! A sturdy chair serves the same purpose as a weight bench, and a rocky mountain can add a new twist to those leg lifts. You might not have what you are used to, but you can certainly make use of what you have!

4. Dine with lighter choices. Yes, you are on vacation, so you won’t be the one cooking yourself those healthy meals. Instead, take a break and have someone else do it! Many people are under the misconception that spoiling your stomach means ingesting food that is unhealthy. Don’t hold that same belief. Spoil yourself by ordering food that is both tasty and healthy, without having to do the work of cooking it! You will thank yourself later, when you realize that you won’t have to add ten pounds to the memories of your vacation.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Belly Fat Away...

Remember how mom used to say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well there may have been more truth to that statement then you gave mom credit for. Simply put, apples are amazing!

Retaining only about 80 calories a piece and being chock full of Vitamin C, apples are relatively low in sugar and exceedingly high in health benefits. Research has suggested that apples may strengthen bones, lower cholesterol, decrease the risk of lung, breast, liver, and colon cancers, minimize brain cell damage that may lead to Alzheimer’s disease, and even decrease asthmatic symptoms in children.

Now, as if all of these benefits aren’t enough to convince you to incorporate apples into your regular diet plan, there is another. Increased research has also demonstrated that an apple a day helps keep the belly fat away!

Apples are extremely high in dietary fiber. Fiber is a substance that helps the body digest food by binding itself to molecules within the body and then pushing those molecules outward (so to speak). In doing so, fiber tends to decrease hunger and the need to overeat, as fiber influences the chemicals within the body that cause a person to feel full, faster than other foods.

To maximize the benefits of this appealing and appetizing fruit, try snacking on an apple twenty minutes before mealtime. Besides a plethora of health benefits, snacking on apples before meal time may help satisfy hunger and make you less likely to consume an excess of foods that are not beneficial for your waste line.
